Vert-X provided the seismic strengthening design for The Strongroom, a well-known Feilding restaurant. Completed in 2013 with architect PAK Design and builder Humphries Construction. The building,  a former two-storey reinforced concrete bank with a basement,  was being repurposed as a restaurant and required strengthening to 67% NBS (IL2). Much of the strengthening steel would be left exposed in the finished interior, so it had to look right. We designed the strengthening around exposed feature structural steel, working closely with the designer to make the steelwork a deliberate feature of the space, with shotcrete to the walls where extra capacity was needed.
