Vert-X provided the structural design for significant weathertightness remediation and alterations to the classroom and administration block at Terrace End School, completed in August 2023 with architect BSM Group and builder Alexander Construction (Central). The building had severe weathertightness issues, so the work combined investigation and design - inspecting existing framing in conjunction with weathertightness experts, bracing, structural beams, and foundations to establish what was sound, then designing the partial replacement of framing and structure where it wasn't. Alterations to the building's footprint, canopies and other changes were also made as part of the works. The nature of remediation, where the full extent of damage isn't known until the building is opened up, meant close cooperation was required between Vert-X, BSM Group, and the builder throughout.
