Vert-X provided the structural design for a new dwelling at 9 Dawick Street, Foxton Beach, completed September 2025 - the home of Emerge Architectural Design Director and a long-standing Vert-X client, built by Wayne Adam Builders. The site is elevated and stepped, requiring retaining structures and multiple floor levels, and the ground carries liquefaction risk, where saturated sand can lose strength in an earthquake. We designed a raft floor system and its foundations so the house sits on a single stiff platform rather than relying on uniform ground under each footing, along with the structure, wall bracing, multiple portal frames and structural steel beams that carry the loads across the substantial open spaces the brief called for.
