Vert-X provided the structural design for the new MAPU (Medical Assessment and Planning Unit) and EDOA (Emergency Department Observation Area) building at Palmerston North Hospital, completed in 2024 with the WSP architecture team and builder Maycroft. The hospital needed additional clinical capacity quickly and cost-effectively, so we designed a light, fast-to-erect structure - steel portal frames and steel braced frames, insulated panel roof and wall cladding, and a concrete slab on grade. The building gave the hospital the additional clinical capacity it needed.
