Vert-X provided the structural design for a new workshop building in Palmerston North. Measuring 47 m by 19.5 m span including an attached office, built to run two gantry cranes and nearing completion in 2026. A stormwater and sewer easement crossed the site, but the owners needed the building where it worked best for them, so the main full-height precast wall had to span a significant distance over the easement without founding in it. We used the precast wall itself as a beam - spanning the easement and picking up the portal frame loads across that distance. Portals supported on a mix of piles, the precast wall itself and ground beams to work around the easement - all designed to the tight deflection tolerances gantry cranes require.
