Vert-X provided the structural design for a new classroom block and learning support unit at Feilding High School - approximately 620 m².  Working closely with the architect, Designgroup Stapleton Elliott, we created a structure with significant, light-filled spaces while staying practical and cost-effective working around the added complexity of raking ceilings and clerestorey windows. The building sits on a concrete slab with steel portal frames to carry the open spans and the raking roof and plywood bracing panels where the layout allowed. The result gives the school open, well-lit teaching spaces with a practical, economical structure.
