Vert-X provided the structural design for a hilltop house overlooking Palmerston North, completed in 2016 with PAK Design and builder Humphries Construction. The house is built around a 9-metre opening of sliding doors onto the view creating the challenge of support for the roof and bracing while maintaining functionality of the doors. We designed steel portal frames to brace the structure and carry the load around the opening, along with the wall bracing and the foundations, so the full width of the living space opens to the view.
